How we review listings
A plain, no-hype look at how Bolsa Bridge reviews listings before they go live — what we do, and where our process stops.
Why listings are reviewed
An unreviewed classifieds site is a place where anyone can post anything without accountability. Bolsa Bridge does it differently, because we know this community: a lot of older adults, a lot of people who aren't used to transacting online, and a lot of people who can be easy targets when they urgently need to rent or list a room. A real review — imperfect as it is — puts distance between genuine listings and suspicious ones before they reach readers.
Reviewing listings is good for both sides. For posters: your listing looks more credible — renters are more likely to reach out when they can see that someone read it and stood behind it; the "Reviewed" badge gives your listing a visible edge among hundreds of others. For renters: every listing you see on Bolsa Bridge has been through a real person's eyes — not an automated feed from across the web that leaves readers to filter on their own. And critically for both sides: that review filters out fake listings, spam, and low-quality posts before they ever appear, reducing the risk of a scam for renters and keeping legitimate posters from being lumped in with bad actors. Beyond that, the review record is clear evidence that a transaction was conducted in good faith — a layer of legal protection for both parties if a dispute comes up later.
Our review process
Every listing on Bolsa Bridge — even ones our own newsroom enters on someone's behalf — goes through a real person before it becomes public. Software only supports the reviewer with a few things worth a closer look (a phone number shared with another listing, a price well below the going rate for the area, a duplicate photo…) — the decision to approve, ask a follow-up question, or decline is always made by a person, not by software.
When you submit a listing, it sits in a "pending review" state — nobody sees it but our newsroom. Our commitment: a real person will review your listing within 24 hours. If something's missing or needs a fix, we'll reach out with a question before declining it outright.
What the badges mean
The "Reviewed — Tier 1" badge means a real person on our team read and checked this listing's content before it went live: the description, price, photos, and contact number — not an automatic approval. Software only offers suggestions; a human reviewer always makes the final call.
The "Reviewed — Tier 2" badge means that, on top of the Tier 1 check, our reviewer was able to cross-check one more detail against public records — only when a listing has enough information to look up (for example, a specific address in the description). In this version, most listings will only carry Tier 1, because few listings include that much detail — a rare Tier 2 doesn't mean the rest are less trustworthy.
Tap or hover the badge on any listing to see exactly what was checked for that listing — the note is written by hand by the reviewer, not a generic line reused across every listing.
A listing without a badge doesn't mean it's a bad listing. The badge is a reward for listings that got an extra check, not a penalty for the ones that didn't.
How long we keep phone numbers, and why
The phone number you leave when you post a listing lives in that listing's internal record. We use it for two things: our reviewers may contact you with questions, and we look it up if a report or complaint comes in about that listing.
Once a listing expires, it disappears from the public site — but its record, including the contact number, is kept for a while afterward, in case a report or complaint arrives late. We don't sell your number to anyone, and we don't use it to send you marketing texts.
Here's the honest state of things: a scheduled policy for deleting old records is something we're building, not finished yet in this version — right now there's no fixed "auto-delete after X days" in place. And one more thing worth saying plainly: when someone calls you through the "Call the poster" button on a listing, that call travels over your phone carrier's network — carriers keep their own call logs, and that's outside Bolsa Bridge's control.
Where we draw the line
So you know exactly what we do and don't do: Bolsa Bridge doesn't run criminal background checks on posters, doesn't meet each poster in person, and isn't there when you make a deal. We also can't promise you'll find a room, or that your room will find a tenant — the agreement itself is between renter and landlord.
Our review process reduces visible risk signals — unusual pricing, vague descriptions, a phone number tied to past reports — it is not an absolute safeguard for every transaction. Before you pay a deposit or sign anything, follow the three steps in the "Room safety" box on every listing page — and if something looks off, use the "Report this listing" button right on that page.
